Village of Privilege (“VOP,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to handling donations responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with applicable laws and our organizational mission.
This Donation Policy explains how contributions are accepted, processed, managed, and, where appropriate, refunded. It applies to donations made through our website, fundraising campaigns, events, and other authorized giving channels, unless separate written terms apply.
By making a donation to VOP, you acknowledge that you have reviewed this policy.
All donations to Village of Privilege are voluntary unless otherwise specified in a separate written agreement.
Donors may contribute to support VOP’s mission, programs, initiatives, operational needs, or designated fundraising campaigns.
A donation does not automatically entitle the donor to membership, services, ownership rights, special privileges, or decision-making authority within the organization.
VOP appreciates every contribution, regardless of its size, and is committed to using donations responsibly in support of its mission.
Unless a donation is expressly restricted and VOP has accepted that restriction, contributions may be used to support the organization’s charitable or other authorized purposes, including:
VOP may allocate funds among eligible activities based on organizational priorities, program needs, available resources, and applicable legal requirements.
We strive to use contributions responsibly and in a manner consistent with our mission and any applicable restrictions.
From time to time, VOP may invite donations for a particular program, project, event, or fundraising campaign.
When donors designate a contribution for a specific purpose, VOP will handle the contribution in accordance with any accepted restrictions and applicable law.
If a designated project becomes fully funded, unavailable, impracticable, or unable to proceed, VOP will determine an appropriate course of action consistent with the donor’s restrictions, the terms disclosed when the donation was made, and applicable law. Where required, we will seek donor consent, offer an appropriate alternative, or return the contribution.
Donors with questions about a designated contribution may contact VOP using the information provided below.
VOP may accept donations through approved payment methods and third-party payment processors.
Depending on the available giving options, these may include debit cards, credit cards, electronic payments, or other authorized methods.
Payment transactions may be subject to the terms, conditions, security procedures, and privacy policies of the applicable payment provider.
VOP does not intend to store full payment card information on its own systems when that information is handled by a third-party processor.
Donors are responsible for providing accurate payment information and ensuring they are authorized to use the selected payment method.
If you believe a donation was made without your authorization, please contact the payment provider and VOP promptly so the matter can be reviewed.
VOP encourages donors to review their donation amount, payment details, and intended designation before completing a transaction.
Completed donations are generally considered final and are not automatically refundable. However, VOP will review refund requests involving circumstances such as:
Refund requests will be evaluated individually. Approval is not guaranteed except where required by law or applicable payment rules.
To request a refund, contact VOP and include the donation date, amount, transaction reference if available, and a brief explanation of the issue. Do not send full payment card numbers or passwords.
Approved refunds will generally be returned through the original payment method when possible. Processing times may depend on the payment provider and financial institution.
If VOP offers recurring donations, donors will be informed of the applicable amount, billing frequency, and material terms during the donation process.
Donors who establish recurring contributions may cancel future payments using the cancellation method provided by VOP or the relevant payment provider.
Cancellation will stop future scheduled contributions once the request has been processed, subject to applicable payment processing deadlines. Cancellation does not automatically refund donations already completed.
If you experience difficulty canceling a recurring donation, please contact VOP for assistance.
A donation to Village of Privilege is not necessarily tax-deductible.
Tax deductibility depends on VOP’s legal and tax status, the nature of the contribution, the identity of the recipient, and applicable federal, state, and local tax laws.
VOP will not represent donations as tax-deductible unless it is legally authorized to do so.
Donors should independently confirm VOP’s current tax-exempt status and consult a qualified tax professional regarding their individual circumstances.
Where required and appropriate, VOP will provide donation acknowledgments or receipts containing relevant information about the contribution.
If a donor receives goods, services, tickets, memberships, or other benefits in exchange for a payment, the tax treatment of that payment may differ from that of a purely charitable contribution.
Where appropriate, VOP may provide a donation confirmation or acknowledgment by email or another suitable method.
Donors should retain their confirmation and any related payment records for their personal records.
Please ensure that your contact information is accurate when making a donation. If you need a replacement acknowledgment or correction to your donation record, contact VOP.
A donation confirmation is not, by itself, a guarantee that a contribution qualifies for a tax deduction.
VOP may accommodate requests for anonymous recognition or acknowledgment where reasonably possible and permitted by law.
However, certain payment providers, financial institutions, accounting requirements, or legal obligations may require identifying or transaction information to be collected or retained.
A request for anonymity does not prevent VOP from maintaining records required for legitimate organizational, financial, security, or legal purposes.
VOP respects donor privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly.
Information collected in connection with donations may include a donor’s name, contact details, donation amount, transaction information, designation preferences, and communication history.
